Marlon Enters His Pre-Dotage
Marlon, Director of Client Satisfaction, went on about his day, barking, eating, playing and having zero clue that his birth mom pushed his sweet cairn terrier body out of her womb — likely in the midst of some sort of puppy mill situation — 11 years ago today.
He was assigned to me as my third foster pup for Colonel Potter Cairn Rescue Network and was exactly a year old when I met him in 2005. He was (and still very much is) full of energy, growlies and beauty.
I fully intended to help him find a home; I really did. However, as the months wore on and no adoptive families came a-callin’, I realized what I needed to do: FAIL! Yes, I failed miserably at fostering Marlon in November of 2005.
And this week we celebrate a decade together.
Marlon is equal parts shy and confident; goofy and serious; affectionate and independent. He’s a stoic, darling creature and I’m so very happy I get to enjoy him.
Happy birthday to Marlon!
Oh, and he was called “Gizmo” when I met him. He owes me big time for upgrading his name.
